Keep Colorado’s Economy Healthy With Paid Family Leave
We believe in building a strong and more secure middle class, where hard work is rewarded. We want good jobs at a fair wage so that we can pay our bills and take care of our families. Yet hardworking Coloradans shouldn’t have to choose between the two.
All of us, at one time or another, will have to deal with major life events that require time off from work to be with family.
This is why paid family leave is so important for Colorado workers and businesses alike.
Small businesses benefit from less turnover and more productivity. They see higher employee morale and lower replacement training costs.
Workers benefit from not losing out on wages while taking care of a sick child or aging parent. Those wages and retirement benefits add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars over a lifetime of work.
And when Coloradans earn more, they spend more. Paid family leave isn’t just for ensuring healthy families, it will protect the health of our state’s economy too.
All Coloradans should have a fair shot at success and a chance to get ahead even when our families need our help at home. We need to do more to ensure that we have paid family leave in Colorado. This doesn’t only help working families, it keeps our state’s economy on the right track.
